Photographic

The photographic images on display are the testimony of all the Holy Father’s travels around the world and his presence in Valle d’Aosta since 1986 when he came to our region for a pastoral visit.

Since then John Paul II has elected the village of Les Combes in Introd as his summer holiday residence.

In the following years the photos show the Pontiff in his double guise, the official one and the private one. Both give us back the figure of the Pope always at the center of attention and always a protagonist even if, inevitably, the images that are most appreciated are those that go beyond the confines of officialdom, making us appreciate the great generosity and natural simplicity with which the Holy Father has always approached the people of our community.(© LC)

Multimedia

It is the sector in which, given the size of the museum, the real development of the activity of this institution will take place.

In the Maison Musée Jean-Paul II there is a database in which the Pontiff’s public pronouncements are included. These documents can be consulted on site via telematic link.

The photographic images of the Pope’s travels, which have been collected on CD, are also made available for viewing on video.

In addition, thanks to the collaboration with the Vatican Press Office, we have obtained and inserted in the database, as a separate part, a chapter called “Evidences” which deals very briefly with all the events (almost day by day) that took place during the Pontificate. (© LC)

Video

We have obtained the television transmissions relating to all the Pope’s journeys (each of 1/2 hour) that the Telepace station has collected over the years.

These tapes are on view inside the museum at the request of the visitors.

Also available are the tapes produced by the RAI regional journalistic office about the presence of the Pope in Valle d’Aosta.(© LC)

Objects

This part of the museum is the one visually and physically that is closest to the Holy Father. It is in fact the exhibition of objects that belonged to the Pontiff and that in some way give us back His figure in the same simplicity and humanity with which He presents Himself to the people.

In fact, in the museum there are some gifts that the Pope received during his numerous trips around the world and objects of his daily life during his holidays in the Aosta Valley.(© LC)

Philatelic

On the advice of the Vatican Numismatic and Philatelic Centre we have identified and acquired the most suitable philatelic production for the purposes of our exhibition.
This is the entire collection of the issues made and cancelled in the countries where the Pontiff went for his apostolate.
This collection is partially exhibited in the museum bulletin boards which will present, alternating month by month, (not being able to present them simultaneously) the trips and countries visited by the Pope, through the relative philatelic issues.(© LC)

Numismatic

To complement the philatelic part and to give a complete overview, the entire numismatic production made in these eighteen years of Pontificate is on display. (© LC)
